One of the most exciting things about the modern rock scene is how many new bands are coming out with great music. It’s a really exciting time to be a music fan, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the new material that comes out every day. But don’t worry—we’re here to help!

We’ve put together a playlist of some of our favorite fresh tracks from the past few weeks, so you can check out some of the best new releases without having to do any work at all. We’ve included everything from indie rock to pop punk, so there’s something for everyone!

1) ANNAKYE – Too Far South

As a band, Annakye arrived on the scene at the end of 2019, and since then have been making a name for themselves on the local music scene with their powerful live performances and unique blend of alternative music and pop music.

It will be a matter of time before Annakye releases their brand new single, “Too Far South,” set for release on the 14th of April 2023. Annakye, with their powerful new fronts, their refreshed sound, as well as their growing fan base, are poised to have a great year.

In this song, ‘Too Far South’, they try to capture the tumultuous emotions that accompany a toxic relationship. The song has all the elements of a classic anthem, with a driving acoustic guitar riff, pounding drums, and gritty vocals that are sure to get your blood pumping.

A handful of original songs were released by Annakye before they welcomed two new fronts and changed their sound, and even did a pop cover of ‘New York, New York’.

2) JUSTIN TURK – Truth In Lies

The world of music is a vast, rich landscape filled with thousands of artists. It’s hard to know where to start, who to listen to, and what you’re going to get out of them.

We’ve done the research for you: Justin Turk is an Alternative Rock singer from Palm Coast, USA. He might not be super famous yet, but he’s making waves in the industry with his new single: “Truth In Lies”.

There is no doubt that Justin Turk is an outstanding songwriter with a gift of versatility. The message he conveys in his music is one of positivity and inspiration.

This song has all the makings of a hit single: catchy lyrics that stick in your head and a beat that makes you want to get up and dance! It’s hard rock meets rap rock with a hint of nu-metal and post-hardcore thrown in for good measure—a perfect combination if there ever was one!

Justin is pushing the limits as an independent artist when it comes to his freedom by releasing songs of a wide variety of genres in the course of his career. Bringing together the fans of both worlds in one place.

3) SHOCKPOWDER – Europa

SHOCKPOWDER is a band from Aylesbury, UK. Their music is best described as ”post-rock shoegaze black metal post-metal alt-rock pop rock.”

With the release of a new single called Europa, named after the moon of Jupiter, the shoegaze/post-metal project Shockpowder is releasing a new record in April.

The song is great for anyone who wants to get lost in their own thoughts while they’re running errands or commuting—the music helps me zone out, but it doesn’t leave me feeling like my mind has completely shut off.

The song features an interesting blend of clean singing and deep vocals—a technique that is becoming more common among modern rock bands

4) THORN – We Are Happy (Of The Pale Criminal)

THORN is an artist from the UK, and his new single “We Are Happy (Of The Pale Criminal)” is a perfect example of what makes him so special. It’s a song that can be listened to over and over again—and it will never get tired or old.

The single is an experiment with the genres of psychedelic rock, gothic rock, industrial metal, and punk. It’s a solid mix of the different styles and sounds that he uses to create a song that almost sounds like it’s coming straight out of the ’90s.

His music is very upbeat and catchy, but it also has an underlying sadness or darkness to it that makes it feel like you are listening to something that has been played over and over again for hundreds of years.

5) INIMICAL DRIVE – Nothing New (Stripped)

If you’re looking for a new band to add to your playlist, we highly recommend INIMICAL DRIVE. They’re an alternative rock band from St. Louis with a sound that’s both classic and edgy.

It’s got that raw, stripped-down feel that’s so hard to find these days, but it also has a super catchy and anthem-like quality that makes you want to sing along.

Over the past decade, St. Louis hard rockers Inimical Drive have become known as one of the hardest working, independent groups in the alternative and metal genres.

In addition to dropping a new music video, they have also announced a West Coast tour with OTEP that will take place over the next few weeks.

It’s so much fun to listen to and get lost in; if you like alt-rock or alternative pop music (or even if you don’t!), we definitely recommend giving this one a try.

6) AURORA BY NOON – Black Crosses In The Sun

AURORA BY NOON is the kind of band that will have you punching the air and screaming at the top of your lungs. Their sound is classic, hard rock, with an alternative twist. They’re from Austria, Vienna specifically.

This emerging musical sensation set to revolutionize the music landscape is AURORA BY NOON. This superb ensemble brings together the finest international musicians in order to create a sound that seamlessly blends time-honored traditions with contemporary flair, which is set to captivate audiences worldwide.

In order to achieve AURORA BY NOON’s unique musical signature, they have perfected the fusion of melodious basslines with powerful, punchy rhythms; this creates a complex yet hard-hitting auditory experience that allows the rest of the instruments to really shine.

Aurora By Noon is based in Austria, and Vienna, so if you love European culture as much as we do (and who doesn’t love European culture?), this is definitely a band worth checking out!

7) GARY DRANOW – Day I Was Born

On April 7th, 2023, Gary Dranow released the Blues Boogie song ‘Day I Was Born’. As the 6th release of Gary’s Blues Boogie songs, this was the song in which Gary was able to really showcase his guitar soloing.

With Jerry Manfredi and Jethro Defries providing the solid rhythm foundation for him, he was able to really stretch his guitar soloing in this song. They had a great time recording this song in one take, and Tommy Mars (Frank Zappa Band) added a fantastic touch to the song.

The song’s vocals have a warm quality that adds to the classic sound of the track—it’s not super polished but it doesn’t need to be, either. It’s just right for this kind of music.

It’s worth checking out this single if you’re into music from the 80s or even just have a soft spot for classic sounds; there’s something very satisfying about hearing something so true-to-form these days when so much is done digitally.

8) BURNING RIVER – Ignition

BURNING RIVER is a band that has been around for some time now. They are from Cleveland, Ohio and they play Alternative Rock, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, and Rock music. Where rock n roll once occupied a very prominent position in the popular music scene, there is a fairly substantial hole in it today.

Their belief is that by combining a vintage sound with a modern sound, they can rekindle public interest in rock music by combining a vintage influence with a modern sound.

They hope to re-establish rock music as an equally valuable genre along with pop, hip-hop, and country music in the future.

9) LINNÉA – Blue Crystal

The single Blue Crystal, released on 11th April 2023, is the first from the upcoming EP Fixation, which will be out later this year.

There is a sense that Linnèa is bringing back to pop/rock the more authentic sound it was in the past. As a 90’s rebel of today, she is unafraid to cross boundaries and speaks truth to power through the use of her lyrics.

Blue Crystal is a song that combines elements of 90’s rock with garage rock and grunge rock. It also has an alternative rock sound, combining classic sounds with modern ones.

As she dives into the dark territories of mental health and heartbreak in her devastatingly powerful new EP Fixation, Blue Crystal is just the beginning of what’s to come as she takes us straight into the dark territories of mental health and heartbreak.

In this song, the listener will be taken on a journey of conquering fears and discovering their own self-worth.

10) JULIET CALLAHAN – Depth Of Soul

Juliet Callahan is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. Her music is a blend of Alt Rock and Pop, with a hint of Emo and Grunge.

Her new song “Depth of Soul” is an alternative pop-rock song that she co-produced and co-wrote inspired by the choices she made in her life journey in relation to her career decisions and the decision she made to follow her dreams as a musician.

It is symbolic of the change that she made in herself in order to fully align with who she was deep down in the depths of her heart and soul, which is an artist, and to fully embrace that.

Juliet Callahan’s sound reminds me of classic rock bands like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins but with a modern twist. Her music has been described as dark pop with alternative rock influences—a combination that has been gaining popularity over the past few years due to its unique sound.
