New Release Combines 90’s Rock with Alt Rock Pop Elements

A quartet from Austin, TX, named Frogmouth creates buzz with their first full-length album “Identity Thief.” Known for exciting shows or hook-filled alt rock songs, the band establishes itself in today’s garage rock scene. The audio player below lets you hear their music firsthand while you read about this notable album.

The band started in 2022, and drew fans with their mix of 90’s rock or alt rock pop elements. Their debut 9-track album “Identity Thief” came out on March 21st, 2025. The tracks move between punk, alternative, dub, prog, as well as glam styles.

The single “Would You Believe” takes inspiration from Bob Mould but creates its own path. Jesse Hodges writes witty lyrics, next to punk elements, along with catchy pop melodies. Each song on “Identity Thief” shows the band’s humor or passion. Listen to our playlist for more alt rock discoveries.

A Talented Lineup with Diverse Rock Roots

Jay Ziegler joined as lead guitar in early 2023 after leaving Wild Tinderbox. His work helped form their sound, which led to the EP “Humor Me” in October 2023. Songs like “Bad at Talking” or “Not Listening,” mix punk with alt-rock. KUTX picked one track as Song of the Day.

Angus Barrs came in 2024, to play bass or sing. With drummer Jordan Goldman, they created nine songs that recall classic rock. Their music caught attention at places like Mohawk, Far Out Lounge, as well as Kick Butt Coffee, with memorable shows.

The new tracks remind listeners of Superchunk or The Clash but add modern touches. These familiar sounds, plus new ideas, make “Identity Thief” worth hearing. Such comparisons help new fans find Frogmouth’s music.

Fans can see Frogmouth play at Hanover’s, The Aristocrat, or Captain Quack’s. The shows prove their dedication through rock songs that please crowds.
