A London, Kentucky Band Revisits a Blues and Americana Track From Its 15-Song 2024 Debut

Two years after its release, Spaceman still holds its place in the Andrew Moore and Hooch catalogue. The track came out on 5 October 2024 as the 11th of 15 songs on the London, Kentucky band’s debut album. It is a blues, Americana and indie folk blend that runs just over four minutes.

Andrew Moore and Hooch have Spaceman in the playlist below, filed with this desk’s blues and retro guitar picks. The band’s artist profile tracks their full run of coverage. The track reached RockCharts.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. The Andrew Moore and Hooch Catalogue So Far, From Speakeasy House Band to 17 Releases

The numbers around Spaceman have moved since. The band has released two albums in under two years. It has collected awards in Nashville, Hollywood and Atlanta, and made the initial ballot for the Grammy Awards. The track is a useful fixed point for measuring that run.

The band started as a house act. Andrew Moore told CanvasRebel that he formed the first Hooch with his father at a speakeasy in upstate New York. In a later interview he placed it in the basement of his family’s 1891 inn in the Adirondack Mountains. After about five years, the family moved back to London, Kentucky.

Back home, Moore played solo piano at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Lexington. Then he met bassist Logan Turner at a jam session in Richmond and found the rest of the line-up through local connections and Facebook. Finally, Andrew Moore and Hooch launched in 2022. The current five-piece is Moore on vocals and piano with Turner, Gabe Crockett, Matthew Skaggs and Jeremiah True.

After that, a run of singles led into the full debut, which arrived on 5 October 2024 with 15 songs. Moore said he had kept those songs to himself for around 15 years before recording them. By his account, three of them were out when the band collected 12 award nominations in 2024. He later put their streaming total at around 250,000, and Deezer now lists 17 releases.

What Changed After Spaceman, From Opry Awards to a Second Album Cut Live

The awards came first. WYMT reported that the band won Band of the Year in the Multi-Genre and Americana categories for 2024. The Josie Music Awards presented it at the Grand Ole Opry. They also took Blues Song of the Year at the Hollywood Independent Music Awards. In Atlanta, the debut won Album of the Year at the International Singer Songwriters Association Awards. Moore called the initial Grammy ballot the band’s biggest accomplishment.

The company also changed. The band has shared stages with Toby Keith, Drake White and members of Jon Pardi’s band. In addition, professional golfer John Daly began funding their studio time in Nashville, asking only for a co-producer credit.

Meanwhile, singles kept the catalogue moving. Live Loud came in June 2025, $50 Bill in November, Clouds in February 2026 and Heart of a Father in May. The band’s own site lists a 2026 Josie Songwriter Achievement Award for Heart of a Father.

Then the second album, Mountain, arrived in August 2026, nearly two years after the debut. Music Arena GH reported that it was recorded live across five studios, including Nashville’s Sound Stage Studios. Jason Groves, Justine Blazer, Nick Autry and John Daly produced it. The Musical Road counted 13 Josie Music Awards nominations and a tour running into early 2027.

The Through-Line in Andrew Moore and Hooch Is Personal Writing Played by a Live Band

Two things hold the catalogue together. The first is the writing. Moore has said every song on the debut came from a point in his own life, written with complete transparency. On Mountain, he wrote every lyric and composition, then handed them to a band used to the push and pull of a room.

The second, however, is the room itself. In 2025 Moore described the band playing live every week, mostly at Jeff Ruby’s in Lexington, with dates in Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. Music Arena GH offered one session detail from Mountain. Drummer Matthew Skaggs suggested a vocals-only chorus for Tasmanian Devil, then found percussion in a studio closet.

Spaceman sits early in that line. It is a debut-album track, written from the same personal store by a band still building its live identity. For that reason, it is a clean entry point for listeners arriving now, before the bigger second record.

The reference points are clear. Fans of Chris Stapleton, another Kentucky native, know how blues-weighted country can carry a full record. His debut, Traveller, came out in May 2015 with Dave Cobb producing. Similarly, fans of Leon Russell will hear the piano side of the story. Russell sang and played piano on A Song for You for his 1970 debut. Moore, a singer and pianist, works in that lineage.

Where to Hear Spaceman and Follow the Band

RockCharts.News’s curator team:

“The number we keep coming back to is two. Two albums in under two years, from a band that began as a speakeasy house act. Spaceman is the easiest door into both.”

Spaceman plays in the Spotify player at the top of this page. Follow Andrew Moore and Hooch on Spotify, Deezer, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and X. Their Linktree and official site list upcoming dates.
