Fourteen Solo Releases, a New Band Credit and a Five-Minute Single Released Three Times

Between October 2021 and October 2024, Dave Lebental put out 14 releases credited to him alone. Since February 2025, every record has carried a second name. Changing the Way I Feel, released on 4 July 2025, was the fifth release billed to Karma Train and Dave Lebental. At five minutes and 10 seconds, it is now the longest of the ten tracks on the 2026 album Stylus.

Dave Lebental’s Changing the Way I Feel holds a place in the synth rock and psychedelic playlist below, and the full run of his coverage sits on Dave Lebental’s artist profile. The single reached this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news desks. Press play, then read on for the numbers behind the catalogue.

Fourteen Solo Releases Between 2021 and 2024 Built the Catalogue Changing the Way I Feel Comes From

First came Granite Meadow in October 2021, and the solo run then kept a steady pace. Let’s Just Stay In Bed, Monique, No One Else Can Do It and Bring It Around followed inside six months. In fact, by the end of 2022 there were eight singles, closing with Painted Desert Sky.

Next, four more singles followed in 2023, from The Next Train Out Of Town to Anyone But You. Then, in January 2024, The Long Player arrived as his first album. Every one of its 11 tracks had already come out as a single. After that, Tequila Beer and Rum in October 2024 was the last release credited to Lebental alone. Across those 14 releases, the pace works out at roughly one every 12 weeks.

The method is deliberate. In a March 2026 interview with Music Arena Gh, he agreed that modern listeners prefer single songs to full albums. As a result, he releases most of his songs as singles, with visual content to promote them. The same feature put the combined Spotify and YouTube streams for The Long Player at over one million.

In addition to his own records, Lebental appears as a featured artist on four singles by Tim Freund between 2022 and 2025. Counting those, that is 27 releases in under four and a half years.

A Second Name Joined the Credits in August 2024 and Has Held on Every Release Since

The change was in the billing. Mindy Please, released in August 2024, was the first record to carry Karma Train, the live band he leads, next to his own name. After one more solo single, the shared credit became permanent. From Mulberry Drive in February 2025, every release has been billed to both.

Race to the Bottom followed in April 2025, then the four-track Not Exactly As You Planned EP in May. Changing the Way I Feel came next, on 4 July, as the fifth release under the joint credit. Spotify credits the single to Karma Train and Dave Lebental.

Since then, the run has held. You Figure It Out and True Understanding arrived in late 2025, the Hopium EP in January 2026, and Stylus in February 2026. That makes nine releases under the shared name in about 18 months.

Changing the Way I Feel Appears on Three Releases

The joint releases also recycle each other. Several later singles and EPs carry earlier tracks as extras, so the catalogue keeps putting songs back in front of listeners. Changing the Way I Feel is a clear case. After the July 2025 single, it returned as the second track on the Hopium EP in January 2026. Six weeks later, it took track three on Stylus.

In other words, the album follows the same plan as The Long Player. Eight of its ten tracks had already led a single or EP. Only Addition By Subtraction and I Can Always Count On You were new.

Changing the Way I Feel Holds Its Place as the Longest Track on Stylus and Enters the AOR Conversation

Changing the Way I Feel runs for five minutes and 10 seconds. On Stylus it sits at track three, and no other song on the album is longer. By comparison, the next longest, Not Exactly As You Planned, runs for four minutes and 34 seconds. For a record in the alt rock pop, AOR and art rock tradition, that extra length gives the song room to move.

In essence, the song is about the creative process. Lebental wrote it on piano, and it unpacks the elusive process that songwriters, and anyone involved in creative work, will recognise. He describes it as a multi-section song. Even so, the hooks repeat enough to keep the listener comfortable while the structure shifts.

He also built the recording largely alone. In his home studio in Los Angeles, he layered grand piano, organ, bass, slide guitar, synth, saxophones, trumpet and trombone himself. On top of that, he sang all the vocal parts.

The Through-Line Back to Todd Rundgren and World Party

In fact, that one-person method has a clear lineage in the AOR and art rock canon. On Something/Anything?, released in 1972, Todd Rundgren played every instrument and sang every vocal on three of its four sides. Similarly, Changing the Way I Feel follows the same model on a home-studio budget.

World Party is the other reference, and Lebental names the band himself as an influence. For most of its life, World Party was the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Karl Wallinger, who built melodic, 1960s-rooted pop largely from his own parts. Likewise, Lebental’s catalogue sits in that lane. It is melodic and arranged, and one person makes most of it before a band takes it on the road.

Who the AOR Single Is For and Where to Follow Dave Lebental and Karma Train Online

This is a single for listeners who follow AOR, art rock and melodic alt rock. It also suits anyone who likes a song that takes five minutes to say what it means. Fans of long-form, piano-led rock, for example, will find a familiar shape. Meanwhile, listeners new to Lebental get an easy way in, since the song now sits on Stylus.

RockCharts.News curator team: “Twenty-three releases under his name in under four and a half years tells you about work rate. Changing the Way I Feel tells you about ambition: it is the longest track on Stylus, built by one musician in a home studio.”

Stream the single on Spotify or Apple Music.
