The self-titled debut album, “Fury of a Dying Planet”, runs just under 40 minutes, and it is an audial journey that highlights the pillaging and ruination of nature by mankind. Doug Rimington, the multi-instrumentalist and producer behind the project, was inspired by the Netflix documentary, Seaspiracy, to create compositions layered with hard-hitting eco-minded lyrics. Titles like “Heroes of the Earth” culminate this theme beautifully, saluting those who sacrifice their ‘normality’ for environmental protection.
Doug Rimington, who has collaborated with the likes of Lockdown Co and Heart Through Sacrifice, brings an authentic British metalcore experience to the forefront. With Paul Brigstock of Blacklight Vice on vocals and session drummer Chris Allan engineering the drums, the album’s tracks display an evolution in the FOADP sound.
Allan has added heft to the project with his experience working with artists like Marco Mendoza and Dan Byrne. The final touch was given by Justin Hill, whose mastering expertise has graced bands such as Heart of a Coward and The Five Hundred.
An essential part of the album, conceptualized further by artist Bec Dennison of Bullet on a String, is the visual art. Dennison’s logos and horror-themed posters reflect the album’s narrative of a fading planet, adding a layer of depth to the singles. The collaborative effort in ‘Fury of a Dying Planet’ culminates in an immersive experience that stands out in the alternative rock and post-metal scene.
