Moore Recorded This Alt-Country and Folk Rock Set in a Converted Bedroom Studio

Ten tracks, 42 and a half minutes, and a second album inside six months. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow arrived on 8 May 2023, half a year after David Moore released his debut, and it showed how wide his alt-country, Americana and folk rock writing could run.

David Moore’s Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is in the playlist below. His full coverage history is collected on his artist profile. The album came to this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news desks. Press play, then read on for where it sits in his catalogue.

David Moore’s Catalogue Runs From a 1984 Vinyl Single to Four Albums Released Since 2022

The catalogue has an unusual shape, and the numbers explain it. Moore played in club bands around Dallas and Fort Worth in his thirties and recorded a single on vinyl in 1984. He also learned production and multitrack recording on a Tascam 34, a four-track reel-to-reel deck. Then, after marrying in 2003, he stepped away from music to raise a family.

The return came decades later. After retiring from a 35-year career in the airline industry, Moore and his wife moved to rural northwest Texas. There he converted a bedroom into a studio and began recording again. The debut album followed in November 2022, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow in May 2023, and a third album in May 2024. As a result, he released three albums in a year and a half. A fourth, recorded with players from Stan Lynch’s band The Speaker Wars, followed on 24 August 2026.

Between the albums sits a steady run of singles. The Daydream arrived alongside the debut, and Dance of the Firefly followed in January 2023. After that, the singles kept coming. In 2025 alone there were three, from I Wish in February to Chasing the Mothership and When Lightning Strikes. Then 2026 brought five more, including Mysteries of Life, The Wizard and Bryn Mawr. In other words, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is one fixed point in a catalogue that has kept moving every few months.

What Changed on Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

The second album widened the range. According to Moore’s own notes on the official site, Our Trip in the Sun has an island feel, while Christine takes on a progressive country sound. Down by the Sea, meanwhile, recalls Seagull by Bad Company, the acoustic ballad that closed that band’s 1974 debut. That comparison is useful, because Bad Company built that song on acoustic guitar and a plain vocal, and Moore’s own reference points to the same kind of quiet acoustic song.

Length varies more than on most debuts as well. Down by the Sea is the shortest track at 3:06, and The Lemming Song stretches to 6:18. The fourth track, You, carries a joint credit with Jim Patterson, Moore’s late best friend, whom he counts as an inspiration. Finally, the title track closes the record at 3:23.

The Through-Line From Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Is Acoustic Songwriting Recorded in a Texas Home Studio

Across the catalogue, the method stays the same. Moore writes most of his songs on acoustic guitar. He calls his style loosely based on folk rock and classic rock, yet the writing reaches into pop, blues, progressive country and even ambient instrumentals. Above all, the records are made at home, in that converted bedroom studio in northwest Texas.

Friendship is the other constant. Moore has worked with the ambient musician Hollan Holmes, a friend of 37 years, and with Chris McConville from the UK, who once toured with The Bishops. Bassist Brian Patterson later joined him on two songs. Jim Patterson’s influence also runs through the whole run: Moore released a cover of the Bryan Adams song You’ve Been a Friend to Me in his memory on 3 October 2024.

That country-rock side also puts Moore close to the Eagles, who carried country harmonies and acoustic guitars into rock radio in the 1970s. Christine sits nearest to that tradition, with its progressive country lean.

Where to Start With David Moore and Westridge

RockCharts.News’s curator team: “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is the record where David Moore’s range shows. An island song, a progressive country song and a six-minute story sit on one album, and the home studio holds them together.”

Start with Christine for the country-rock side, then play The Lemming Song for the longest stretch on the record. After that, go back to Down by the Sea to hear the acoustic restraint the album keeps returning to.

Stream David Moore and Westridge on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and SoundCloud, and watch more on the YouTube channel. Then follow along on Instagram, Facebook and X.
