Razed by Rebels Moves with Broken Paradigm, Seven Years After the Dawn EP
From a Four-Track 2018 EP to Nine Songs Cut Across Three Texas Studios
Broken Paradigm holds as the longest run in the Razed by Rebels catalogue. It packs nine tracks of synth-driven industrial rock and dark wave into a little over 30 minutes. The album came out on 15 November 2025, seven years after the four-track Dawn EP. It is also the first time Jason Winfield’s Austin, Texas project has worked at album length.
Razed by Rebels’ songs are in the playlist below, and the project’s full coverage history is collected on the Razed by Rebels profile. The Razed by Rebels Catalogue Before Broken Paradigm Ran to One Four-Track EP and Two Singles
The catalogue before the album is short and easy to map. Dawn came out on 10 November 2018 with four songs. The four were A New Generation, Missing Parts, The Arrow Stings and Nowhere Left to Run. Each runs close to four minutes or longer.
The video for A New Generation did most of the early work. It collected 57 official festival selections and 27 award nods. Those nods covered best music video, director, original song and production design. As a result, that record set the template the project still uses. Real-world human struggle sits inside sci-fi storylines, and the visuals grow alongside the songs rather than after them.
Then came a long gap and a quick return. Two singles opened the album cycle in the autumn of 2025. Until It’s Over arrived on 15 September, and Together We’ve Lost followed on 15 October. Each one came with a remix. Both songs now sit inside Broken Paradigm, in first and seventh position. Both also carry a guest vocalist in the album credits. Hope Irish sings on the opener, and Alexandra Ayoob sings on Together We’ve Lost. The full record followed exactly a month after the second single.

Three Guest Singers, Three Texas Studios and Shorter Songs Changed the Format on Broken Paradigm
Three Studios, One Plan
The first change is the room. Winfield told Pigeon Opinion how the work split across three Texas studios. The band tracked guitars, bass and drums at Orb Recording Studios. The synths and samples went down at The Finishing School. Blue Rock Artist Ranch and Studio, out in the Texas hill country, took the strings, piano and most of the vocals. The Finishing School also holds a set of microphones once used by Queen. So some of the vocals went through one of Freddie Mercury’s old mics.
Three Guest Voices on the Razed by Rebels Credits
Razed by Rebels works as a collective rather than a fixed band, so the credits run long. Hope Irish trades lines with Winfield on Until It’s Over. Alva Sim leads The Nobodies over a slow piano part. Alexandra Ayoob takes the lead on Together We’ve Lost. The credits of The Nobodies also list the Sienna String Quartet.
Shorter Songs, Faster Turns
The second change is length, and the numbers make the point plainly. All four Dawn songs ran between 3:54 and 4:42. On Broken Paradigm, by contrast, the average track runs just under three and a half minutes. Three of the nine run under three minutes. Beware the Hunters lasts 2:08, A Way Through 2:35 and Directive #1 2:37. Those short cuts work as pivots in the running order. For example, Beware the Hunters is the fast, metallic burst after the slower second track. Later, A Way Through drops the volume before Hiding Within brings the heavier industrial sound back.
One Story in Nine Parts
The third change is scale. The EP was four songs with one standout video. The album, however, runs as one story. A central character moves through an era of tension and has to confront their own ideals. Then that character faces the cost of those decisions. Winfield has described the title as meaning a flawed ideal or model, and the songs keep testing that idea. Winfield also writes, produces and directs, so the record follows a film logic. It opens on Until It’s Over and closes on Heaven’s Gate, the most theatrical track of the set. In between, the longest song sits late in the order. Together We’ve Lost runs 4:22, right where a film would put its slowest scene before the finale.

The Through-Line From A New Generation to Heaven’s Gate Keeps the Project on Sci-Fi Stories About People
Across both releases the subject holds steady. The lyrics on Broken Paradigm deal with resilience, identity, internal conflict and the fallout of standing by your convictions. That is the same human struggle the A New Generation video placed inside a sci-fi frame in 2018. Winfield has said the sci-fi layer lives mostly in the music videos. So the catalogue reads best with the visuals beside it.
What moved is the delivery. The album pairs aggressive guitar riffs and pulsing industrial rhythms with melancholic vocals. It also leaves space for quieter passages, so the heavier songs always have something to push against.
Where Razed by Rebels Sits Next to Its Influences
For listeners placing it, the nearest reference points sit in the art-rock and synth tradition. Winfield has named Depeche Mode among the bands that inspired the project. Fans of Gary Numan will also recognise the sci-fi framing. His 2017 album Savage (Songs from a Broken World) built a whole record around a post-apocalyptic setting. Meanwhile, listeners who keep Pink Floyd and The Wall close will know the other half of the shape. That record uses short linking pieces between full songs to move one figure from pressure to consequence. Broken Paradigm uses its three short tracks the same way, across nine songs instead of 26.
What the Press Has Said So Far
Press response has followed the album well into 2026. Illustrate Magazine reviewed it in March and singled out the opener, The Nobodies and Heaven’s Gate. Plastic Magazine covered it as the project’s debut full-length. Loop Solitaire focused on the two-singer format and the production detail. Buzzy Band went through the record track by track. In addition, Senocular Media placed it in its alternative rock coverage, and Music On The Rox flagged the album to its readers on Threads.

From the RockCharts.News Curator Team: “The short tracks are the tell on Broken Paradigm. Directive #1 runs 2:37 and sits between the album’s longest song and its closer. It keeps the back half moving the way a film edit would.”
The project spent seven years between its first EP and its first album. Broken Paradigm is the clearest single view of what Razed by Rebels does now. The record brings guest voices, short pivots and one long story in nine parts. It suits listeners who want industrial rock with a plot, and anyone who first found the project through the A New Generation video.
