The Raygun Carver Americana Catalogue So Far, From Moon Fields Yawning to Ghost Inside

The Run

Raygun Carver is the name Port Angeles songwriter Michael Soiseth records under. He told York Calling in 2023 that the name plays on a real author who lived and is buried in his hometown. Raymond Carver died in Port Angeles in 1988 and is buried there.

In short, the catalogue moves in bursts. Apple Music lists Moon Fields Yawning in June 2020. Six singles followed in 2022, from Until Morning in January to Dead People in October. Two more arrived in January 2023, then this single in May.

After that, the pace held. Ghost Inside, Saint James Infirmary and Simple Twist of Fate closed 2023 as singles. The album Ghost Inside arrived on 9 February 2024 with ten tracks. Singles have kept coming since, most recently All dead by now in June 2026. The later singles hold smaller totals so far: Tiny Hands shows 7,469 plays and Maybe a Sinner 3,995.

The Positions

On Spotify, the order is clear. The title track of Ghost Inside leads on 76,637 plays. This single sits second. Bad Thing is third on 43,089, ahead of Run around with Sue on 40,332 and Saint James Infirmary on 28,027.

Inside the album, the spread is wide. Six of its ten tracks have passed 20,000 plays, led by the title track and this single. The other four, including Devil in the details, show no public play count on Spotify.

However, the audience behind those numbers is small but specific. Raygun Carver currently draws 1,039 monthly listeners and 472 followers. All five of the top listening cities are in Brazil: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Campinas and Belo Horizonte.

What Changed With Everywhere You Go Is Where You’ll Be, and the Through-Line Since

What Changed Here

The genre tags tell part of the story. Apple Music files this single as folk-rock, the only release in the catalogue with that tag. The two singles from January 2023 were filed as rock. The next two, Ghost Inside and Saint James Infirmary, were filed as blues.

At the time, critics also heard the same range. Brazilian blog Os Garotos de Liverpool described an alt-folk sound with Americana and country elements. Illustrate Magazine heard cinematic blues with a Western setting, a picture of the American Midwest at the end of the 19th century. Muse Chronicle picked out dark folk, blues and gypsy jazz.

The album plan changed too. In June 2023, Soiseth told York Calling the single would lead to an album called Devil in the Details, due that August. The full-length that arrived in February 2024 was Ghost Inside instead. It carries a track called Devil in the details, plus an album version of this single that runs about five seconds shorter than the original.

The Americana Through-Line in the Raygun Carver Catalogue

The labels keep moving, but the direction holds. Folk, blues and Americana run through almost every Raygun Carver release since 2020. This single is where those strands met in one track, and the album that followed kept it.

The numbers back that reading. On Ghost Inside, the single still ranks second only to the title track. Meanwhile, Brazilian blogs were among the first to write about it in May 2023, and Brazil now supplies every one of the top five listening cities.

So this is a record for listeners who follow a catalogue rather than a single moment. It rewards anyone who wants to hear how a songwriter moves between folk, blues and Americana without settling on one.

RockCharts.News curator team: “Everywhere You Go Is Where You’ll Be earns its place on our charts desk because it still holds second position three years after release. It is the track that carried the Raygun Carver catalogue from a run of singles into the Ghost Inside album.”
