Music Selection: Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Music For Your Next Party’s Playlist

Will Lisil 14 September 2022

In the following article, we aim to help you find a playlist that fits the criteria for truly great indie rock and alternative playlist by providing a list of killer indie rock and alternative songs. There are plenty of great independent artists who deserve your attention, so let’s open our hearts and welcome them.

People who like music sometimes hold parties in their homes or businesses. And you know what? Great music is a big part of the equation. Whether it’s guitar rock, instrumental music, or indie bands and singers, having awesome music on your party playlist will make all the difference for you.

I mean, who doesn’t want to listen to some great music when you’re catching up with people from work or home? Or even strangers? Exactly my point — this is why you should be partying to some kick-ass indie rock hits.

The indie rock bands and artists that are out there playing gigs live at bars and other venues would love nothing more than for a whole bunch of people to be having fun at your party, dancing wildly and totally into them. And because they’re independent artists, they’ll love it if you put them on your playlist and listen to their sound on repeat.

Just think of it as giving your support to a rock band that would really appreciate it. You’ll like them too — I promise! Rock on, dude! You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about their work by scrolling down the page.

1) WE ARE TO BLAME – Breathe

WE ARE TO BLAME is a rock band from Sweden, Gällivare. The band is known for their mix of Gothic and Heavy Metal with Melodic Metal, as well as their female vocals.

Their single Breathe is a prime example of this style: it’s an anthem with heavy keyboards and rhythm guitar that features a soaring chorus that will stick in your head for days. We Are To Blame also have a very strong Scandinavian-influenced sound, which gives their music a sense of depth and breadth that many bands lack.

We can say that “Breathe” is a melodic masterpiece. As mentioned, the song features the band’s signature blend of heavy metal and gothic rock, with a female vocalist that’s so full of life it could make you feel like you’re breathing for the first time.

With its soaring vocals and memorable chorus, “Breathe” is sure to become an anthem of its own. It’s also an excellent introduction to We Are To Blame’s music if you’re not familiar with them yet—and if you are, it’ll make you want to go back to where it all started.

If you’re looking for something new and different to listen to, give WE ARE TO BLAME’s music a try! You can check out their website, follow them on Spotify, and see if they’re playing near you soon!

2) THE HAMILTONS – Comin’ Up (Live)

Garage rock and post-punk are alive and well in the United States, and Orlando, Florida is home to one of the hottest bands in these genres: The Hamiltons.

The Hamiltons make music that’s heavily influenced by traditional rock n’ roll, garage rock, punk rock, noise rock, hard rock, alternative rock, and even some metal elements.

Their single “Comin’ Up (Live)” is a great example of how they blend all these styles into something that sounds familiar but new at the same time. And explosive of course… it’s a live performance and we truly loved it!

This song is a perfect introduction to the band’s stylistic range—from the beginning, it’s clear that they’re going to take you on a ride. A gritty guitar riff starts things off, but it’s quickly joined by some heavy drums. Soon after, there’s an explosive chorus with deep (fascinating) male vocals.

If you’re looking for a band that will get your blood pumping and get you dancing—or just want something new to listen to—check out The Hamilton’s latest single, visit their website and follow them on Spotify!

3) GRAVE RETURN – TV Prophets (Live)

Check out this hard-hitting, fast-paced rock song if you’re looking for some adrenaline, this is the Grave Return. The band has just released their newest single “TV Prophets (Live)” and it is everything we could have hoped for—and more.

The band has kept true to its roots while also experimenting with new sounds that are completely fresh and exciting. The song starts off with a short speech, which seems slow to build up that makes it feel like it’s going to be a ballad or something soft, but then BOOM!

It drops into an aggressive punk rock tune that will leave you feeling like you just got kicked in the chest by a skateboarder while they were wearing steel-toed boots.

It’s hard not to sing along when listening to this song because the beat just gets stuck in your head and refuses to let go. We can’t wait for more from Grave Return!

If you love hardcore punk rock as much as we do (and if not—why not?), then check out this new single and visit their website for more information about upcoming shows and future releases!

4) BROKEN ROMEO – Wait For Me

If you’re looking for a classic rock sound with a modern twist, look no further than BROKEN ROMEO.

The group has been around for some years, they have great tracks released in 2002 like Falling Down, but their latest single Wait For Me is everything you could want in an anthemic rock ballad.

The song starts off with a hard guitar sound that builds into an explosive chorus full of soaring vocals, crunchy guitar riffs, and pounding drums. It’s a hard rock track that brings to mind artists like Led Zeppelin or Pearl Jam—but it’s also got a grunge vibe that makes it feel fresh and new.

The song itself has a classic sound that could easily have come from any one of their previous albums, but it still manages to feel fresh and new at the same time. It’s got the right balance of grit and polish that makes it stick in your head for days after you’ve heard it—and as long as BROKEN ROMEO keep putting out music like this one, we’ll keep listening!

If you like what you hear (and I think you will), be sure to check out their website and follow their Spotify page for more music from this talented band!

5) BANDWITHOUTBAND – Wake Up

Wake Up by BANDWITHOUTBAND is a dark, gloomy track that sits in the musical space between alternative rock and post-punk. The song’s lyrics are about waking up from a bad dream, which ties back to its industrial roots.

The male vocals are deep and creepy – on purpose and in a good way – and the instrumentation includes heavy use of synthesizers, which all add up to create an overall dark atmosphere. The song has been called “industrial metal” by some producers from PopHits.Co, but others say it sounds more like “hard rock.” The most important is that it rocks!

The band one man is from Hamburg, Germany, which gives it a bit of an edge over other bands from the same genre—the European rock ‘n’ roll culture, which is characterized by dark wave music, has influenced the artist’s music greatly.

While this song may be difficult for some listeners who aren’t used to industrial rock, it’s worth checking out if you like alternative rock or metal music. You will wave your head and put your hands up for sure. Check it out, visit his website and follow him on Spotify!

6) THE STUART PATTI PROJECT – Lamb Of God

THE STUART PATTI PROJECT‘s debut single “Lamb Of God” is a hard rock song with a gothic edge. It’s got the guitar-washed-out shoegaze style that has become synonymous with the alternative rock scene in the US, but it’s also got a deep and powerful Christian message that will resonate with any listener who has ever felt lost or alone.

It’s a song about finding hope in the midst of despair, and it’s going to be huge in its genre. If you could never imagine feeling the peace of mind while listening to hard rock, then try it out and change your mindset!

Stuart Patti isn’t just a great songwriter and musician; he’s a Christian who infuses emotion into his music—and he knows how to make his music stand out from the pack. This song’s lyrics came from his daughter’s heart, so it’s all about feelings here.

His sound is crisp and clear, but it also has just enough grit to keep things interesting. The track sounds good on any device, so whether you’re listening in your car or on your headphones while walking down the street, you’ll always feel like you’re right there with Stuart Patti as he sings about his experiences with God.

If you’re looking for something new but familiar at the same time, then check out “Lamb Of God” by THE STUART PATTI PROJECT today, visit his website and follow him on Spotify!

7) MARK WINTERS – Heartbeat

Mark Winters is a singer-songwriter from the United States who lives in Sugar Land, Texas. His new single “Heartbeat” is an incredible alt-country rock tune that reminds me of the classic country-rock sound of the 1970s. It’s got a powerful drum beat and soaring guitar riffs.

Mark Winters’ voice is deep and rich, like Alt-Country legends like Steve Earle or Ryan Adams. He’s also got an impressive range, which he demonstrates during some of the song’s verses when he sings with a clear falsetto. His lyrics are introspective, but they’re not depressing—they’re hopeful and positive, which makes the song feel uplifting.

The guitar playing on this track is phenomenal: it sounds like something you’d hear on an old Eagles record! The first time I listened to this song I was totally transported back in time to when I was growing up listening to classic rock records by bands like The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and other greats from that era.

If you’re into old-school and classic rock music but want something fresh and new to listen to then check out Mark Winters’ music, visit his website and follow him on Spotify.

8) THE MARGARET HOOLIGANS – Feedback

The Margaret Hooligans are an indie rock band out of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. They’re a dua actually, with a sound that’s all about noise, punk, and rock n roll—and they turn it up this month with their new single, “Feedback.”

The song starts off with the slow spoken word, followed by brooding guitars and drum beats that build in intensity until they’re screaming at you like a thousand angry bees.

The vocals are delivered by both male and female vocalists: the former is raspy, gritty, and slightly distorted; the latter is clear as day.

Their music has been described as “quirky” and “noisy,” which makes sense given the way their songs often feel like they’re in danger of falling apart at any moment. But somehow they manage to keep it together and sound funny, they are a couple, it’s family music on this one.

Either way, this is one band you won’t want to miss out on. It’s curious how they manage to make music with so many influences as stated by the duo, James Brown, Miles Davis, The Who and Grateful Dead. Now check it out, visit their website and follow them on Spotify.

9) MODE SHIFTER – Sunsets And Bruises

The EP Sunsets And Bruises by Australian band MODE SHIFTER is a 5-track masterpiece of classic rock sounds, singer-songwriter nuances and great vocals. It’s a perfect mix of indie rock and classic rock, with just the right male vocals to give you an authentic feel for Australian rock culture.

The songs are layered with guitar riffs, piano melodies, and drum beats that make you want to headbang or dance like no one’s watching.

The EP starts off with “The Jackal” which is an upbeat tune that could come from any classic rock ‘n’ roll band such as The Rolling Stones. It has a catchy melody and an easygoing feel that makes it perfect for driving around town and speeding up a little bit to feel the adrenaline.

There are some mellow tracks about feelings, and emotions—may be too rocky to express love but it’s super tuneful. Either way, this EP will make you smile and get you through a day of work when you need to recharge your mental energy.

The third track “Time Wasting” is another good song, it’s slow and blends indie rock with ballad vibes; it’s got an 80s style that reminds me of pop rock bands from the time indie rock was a synonym for rebel youth. Now check it out, visit their YouTube channel and follow them on Spotify!

10) MF RUCKUS – Be Cool

MF RUCKUS is a hard rock group from Denver, Colorado. Their latest single, Be Cool, is an anthem for anyone who’s ever felt like they were the only one at the party who didn’t fit in.

The song has all the hallmarks of classic rock: big guitars, catchy choruses, and a powerful sense of frustration about being misunderstood, a situation that makes you feel like a zombie.

The music video for Be Cool uses a lot of dark moments but really highlights each member’s personality with footage of the band playing and expressing their sound—but also including a rockstar Jesus Christ opening the sea to cross it. The story behind the music video is dark, but at the same time it’s funny, so let’s watch it and have fun!

MF RUCKUS has been releasing music on streaming services since 2013, building up its fan base with each new album release, so they have a good portfolio for you to explore. If you like metal alternative music with strong male vocals, check it out, visit their website and follow them on Spotify to get updates on their new projects!
