Voice of Glass Enter the Gothic Rock Conversation with the Phoenix After Twenty Four Years

The Epos EP Track That Keeps Climbing Rock Discovery Lists Seven Months After Release

Voice Of Glass released the phoenix on 16 January 2026, the centrepiece of their Epos EP. Grungy guitars from David Meek open it, and Olya Meek’s belted vocal carries it over a choral layer. The track has kept climbing rock discovery lists ever since. That is a slower shape of movement than a launch spike, and it reads differently.

Voice Of Glass hold a place on the playlist below, with the band’s artist profile covering the rest of the Epos EP. Their single the phoenix came here through PopHits.Co Music Charts, the programme that verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news sites. Give it a spin for the choral layer under the vocal, then keep reading.

The Catalogue Voice Of Glass Built Before The Phoenix Arrived

Guitarist David Meek and vocalist Olya Meek founded the band in 2002. The pair have run it from Las Vegas ever since. Twenty four years is a long run for a two person core. It shows in the shape of what they have put out.

The catalogue opens with two 2006 singles, Song Of Songs and Valley. It then moves through the Making Me Real EP in 2007. The full length The End Of You followed in 2011. After that the pace slows before picking up again. The Hours EP lands in 2022. Shadow Of A Dream, Circles and Prodigal Son follow across 2024. This World Is Broken and Henosis arrive through 2025. All of it sits in one run on Bandcamp.

That history changes how the phoenix reads. A listener arriving at the track lands on two decades of work, not a debut. So the song works as an entry point to a catalogue rather than an introduction to a band. Consequently the job it has to do is different. So is the way it has performed since January.

What Epos Changed For The Phoenix And Its Reach

Epos arrived on 16 January 2026 with the phoenix at its centre. The reviews landed inside the same week. Ever Metal scored the EP 8 out of 10. The reviewer called the track accessible yet laser focused. He also singled out Olya Meek’s vocal for carrying longing without oversinging it.

Three days later Progressive Rock Central ran its own piece. That review traces the arrangement from the front. Grungy guitars from David Meek open the track. Drums come in behind them. Olya Meek sings across the top about darkness and a phoenix rising. The same review called the choir-like support on the song “off the chart”. It also put her voice next to Annie Lennox. That is a specific comparison, not a general compliment.

The coverage then kept going, which is the part worth noting. Foxfire Magazine covered the track in April, three months after release. Its write up describes a mix of gothic textures, progressive metal and hard hitting modern rock. BOPS placed it in This Week’s Rock BOPS, and Inspotmusic ran it as a Daily Discovery.

None of that is a chart position, and nobody should read it as one. It is instead a record that kept surfacing to rock editors. That surfacing continued well past the window a new release normally holds. There lies the difference between a catalogue track and an old one. A catalogue track keeps earning placements; an old track stopped earning them.

Who The Phoenix Is Built For In The Gothic Rock Audience

Two comparisons come up in the coverage, and both are useful. Evanescence is the closer of the two. Ever Metal heard a trace of that band’s later records here. The overlap is structural rather than surface level. Both put a trained, wide ranging female vocal over guitars heavy enough to fight it.

Annie Lennox is the longer reach, but Progressive Rock Central made it for a reason. Lennox built a career on control at volume. She holds a note steady where a rock singer would push it. Olya Meek works the same way through this track.

So the listener who lands here wants weight and melody in one record. Neither gives way. Meanwhile the reader chasing a thirty second hook has quicker options elsewhere. This song builds toward its payoff instead. That is a large part of why it still holds placements seven months on.

RockCharts.News curator team: “What keeps the phoenix in our rotation is restraint. The band hold the tempo back where most hard rock acts would push it. That one decision lets the choral layer register. The gothic side of the arrangement comes through instead of getting buried under the guitars.”
