Unleashing a sonic revolution from Dundalk, Pork Pie’s latest track redefines the boundaries of alternative rock

Pork Pie, the Irish alternative rock powerhouse hailing from Dundalk, has once again proven their musical prowess with their latest single, ‘The Raven’. This track, the fifth and final offering from their hotly anticipated second album ‘GOLDEN LEAF SHEETS’, showcases the band’s evolving sound and eclectic sensibilities. Recorded at Dundalk’s Lockup Recording Studio in 2023, engineered by Pete Rust and mastered by Fergal Davis, ‘The Raven’ is a testament to Pork Pie’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of contemporary rock.

As a four-piece outfit comprising Shane Brett on drums, Michael Laverty on bass, Michael Stafford handling vocals, lyrics, piano, guitar, and alto sax, and Peter Laverty on lead guitar, Pork Pie has been making waves in the alternative rock scene. Their unique blend of garage rock, indie groove, and psychedelia has earned them comparisons to legendary acts like The White Stripes and The Black Keys.

“Pork Pie’s ‘The Raven’ is a masterclass in genre-bending artistry. It’s a post-punk, post-grunge, post-modern anthem that seamlessly blends garage rock grit with psychedelic allure. This track doesn’t just showcase their musical range; it redefines what alternative rock can be in 2023.” – RockCharts.News Curation Team

The band’s journey has been nothing short of impressive. They’ve gigged extensively across Europe, gracing stages at renowned venues such as the Spirit Store in Ireland, The Paradiso in Amsterdam, Kapu Culture Centre in Linz, and The Dublin Castle in London. This extensive touring has honed their live performance skills, infusing their recorded material with an electric energy that’s palpable in every note of ‘The Raven’.

Pork Pie’s sound is a rich tapestry of influences, weaving together elements of art rock, Britpop, and shoegaze to create something truly unique. Their ability to layer instruments and build upon their core sound is evident in ‘The Raven’, which they describe as a “post-punk, post-grunge, post-modern, slightly garage, slightly psyche sing along.” This eclectic approach to songwriting sets them apart in the crowded landscape of indie rock, offering listeners a fresh and exciting auditory experience.

The band’s rising profile hasn’t gone unnoticed by industry insiders. In October 2021, Pork Pie was sponsored by the Irish Government’s Department of Arts & Culture to perform an exclusive online gig at the famous Great Northern Brewery in Ireland. The performance received rave reviews in the music press, further cementing their status as one of Ireland’s most exciting up-and-coming acts. With ‘The Raven’, they continue to build on this momentum, crafting a sound that’s both familiar and groundbreaking.

To fully appreciate the sonic journey that is Pork Pie, we encourage you to explore their music across all platforms. Stream their tracks on Spotify, connect with them on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, support them on BandCamp, and watch their videos on YouTube.
