Here at Rock and Roll and Metal, we take pride in speaking about indie rock music and introducing our readers to great bands from all over the world.
Rock culture is alive and well, no matter what you may hear. Sure, the big names of the industry have been bought out by big corporations, but that doesn’t mean that classic rock isn’t still going strong. It’s just gone underground!
In fact, some of the best songs released in recent years have been from independent artists who are still making music for the love of it rather than for fame or fortune. And these artists are putting their own spin on classic rock hits in a way that feels fresh and exciting while staying true to their roots as musicians.
If you’re looking for something new to listen to this week, we’ve got a playlist full of our favourite new releases by independent artists. Check it out below!
You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about their work by scrolling down the page.
1) RICH CHAMBERS – I’m A Fool For Lovin’ You
If you’re a fan of classic, country-infused rock n roll, then you’ll love what you hear when you listen to RICH CHAMBERS‘ new single “I’m A Fool For Lovin’ You.”
It’s kind of retro, but it’s not really retro if you ask me. While he hints at country, he isn’t quite a country singer. A little bit of modern rock can be heard in his music, as well as a little bit of pop.
As a matter of fact, he is even a tiny bit of bubblegum pop, in a nutshell, he really is a little bit of everything. There is no doubt that Rich Chambers is Rock n’ Roll Reimagined at its best.
With his latest release, the guitar-driven rocker ‘I’m a Fool for Lovin’ You,’ he has captured everyone’s heart with a catchy pop-rock track that everyone can relate to.
I don’t think there’s anyone who hasn’t loved someone who doesn’t love them back and then called themselves a fool for loving someone like that!

2) CHEL HILL – Spend A Little Time
A songwriting duo based in Los Angeles, CA, Jack & Hill are comprised of Chel Hill, half of the duo, who is a multi-genre Billboard #1 charting songwriter as well as a Harvard University student. Alex Bäcker is the inventor of QLess and Drisit as well as the author of 101 Clues to a Happy Life.
Jack & Hill, a songwriting duo, tapped a star-studded lineup of musicians for their debut single “Spend A Little Time.” The song is backed by a lineup of legendary musicians such as Bon Jovi’s Phil X, multi-Platinum producer Ron Nevison, Grammy-winning Jeff Bova on piano and strings, Denny Fongheiser on drums, and Tony Franklin on bass.
A track with this level of clarity and crispness is not overproduced or polished to the point where it becomes dull. Having instrumental breakdowns to break up the songs at the appropriate time adds a great deal of variety to the songs without feeling forced or extraneous.

3) KAHNIN – Go Kart
If you’re looking for some new music to listen to, check out this single by indie artist KAHNIN. The song is called “Go Kart” and it features a classic rock sound that’s reminiscent of the 90s. The singer’s male vocals are easy on the ears, as well as his guitar work, which can be heard throughout the track.
A cut-up technique famously used by William S. Burroughs is the inspiration behind Kahnin’s 19th single, “Go Kart”. What’s most impressive, however, is that the lyrics of the song celebrate life’s little moments and the importance of keeping a youthful outlook on life. Our current moment feels especially resonant and timely for this message.
From the beautiful intro lick at the beginning, the song quickly evolved into “Go Kart”. Leo Abrahams (Miley Cyrus, Talking Heads, A Star Is Born, Imogen Heap, Harry Styles) plays the electric guitar. There are no synthesizers on the song; all the sounds are from his guitar.
Kahnin created the beats for the track along with Jimmy Deer (amazing producer/instrumentalist) who also played the guitar and bass, mixed the track, and mastered it.

The song “Harmony” by XXALEXAXX is a great example of what the new generation of music sounds like. The artist is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL and their sound can be described as alt-rock pop with emo undertones.

It’s a track that could be used as background music in a variety of settings: it would be perfect for a movie soundtrack, I imagine myself listening to it while driving my car on a beautiful landscape!
The lyrics are also well written; they’re simple enough for anyone to understand them but also contain enough depth for those who want to dive deeper into their meaning.

6) ELLEINAD – Tic Tac
As an upcoming experimental pop/rock artist, Elleinad introduces a brand new and unique sound that combines electronic, cinematic and rock elements in a unique way.
A song like Tic Tac is an alternative rock song with a heavy metal influence (instrumentally). It was influenced by songs like Brutal by Olivia Rodrigo, but it had a heavier sound. This is a song that tells the story of someone who is struggling with mental illness, but the doctors do not provide the help that they need.
The instrumentation on this track is excellent as well – everything sounds crisp and clear while still having enough grit in the guitars to make them stand out against the vocals which have just enough reverb on them so that they sound ethereal at times but still retain their clarity
The lyrics of this song give us a deeper understanding of what it feels like to spiral into manic states of anxiety and depression by yourself without anyone else to help you.

8) PETE ASSHILL – Before Noon
Pete Asshill is a Finnish rock singer and songwriter who has been making music for some time now. His latest single, Before Noon, is a refreshing take on the grunge genre.
A bit of dark humour is part of Pete Asshill’s personality, but he also likes to be serious at the same time. Whether it is in terms of lyrics or compositions, we aim for our own personal style.
It may not be mainstream, but hopefully, it will be understandable to the average person. The genre is hard to categorize, but we think it is rock (alt-rock, progressive, indie), which is hard to standardize.
In this song, “Before Noon”, the lyrics convey a message about the lack of freedom of expression in society today. It is unfortunate that history repeats itself and a dictatorship still holds sway in many countries all over the world.
The song is an alternative rock track that brings back memories of the grunge era. It has a classic sound with powerful lyrics and catchy melodies that are sure to get stuck in your head. The lyrics are about the struggles of life, but there is a hopeful tone throughout that makes it easy to listen to.
