Dani LaCour Turns Reflection Into Country Rock on “in My Rearview”

Dani LaCour Turns Reflection Into Country Rock on "in My Rearview"

Six Months on, the Lake Charles Songwriter’s Alt-Country Album Still Finds New Listeners

Dani LaCour released in my rearview on 24 January 2026, and six months later it is still doing the work a good catalogue record should. The album sits where Alt-Country, Country and Rock overlap, and it holds that position without hedging. That combination is why we are pointing readers at it now rather than filing it under old news.

You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about the artist’s work by scrolling down the page.

Dani LaCour Blends Alt-Country, Country And Rock Without Splitting The Difference

Plenty of records claim three genres, then deliver a compromise across all of them. in my rearview takes a different route. The country writing is the spine. The alt-country instinct keeps the arrangements from smoothing over, and the rock element supplies the push. None of the three gets diluted to make room for the others.

That balance shows up in how the album carries a lyric. Dani LaCour writes stories rather than hooks in search of a verse. So the arrangements are built to serve the telling. Her wider catalogue reaches into rock and roll and rock pop as well. The guitar side is not decorative, then. It is where she actually lives.

Six months on, the record still reads as a full statement rather than a collection of singles. That matters for a listener deciding where to start with an artist. You can put in my rearview on from the top and get a coherent picture of what she does. That is rarer than the genre tags suggest.

Reflection, Moving Forward And The Songwriting At The Centre Of This Album

The title tells you the frame. This is a record about looking back, and about what you do with what you see there.

“Creating ‘in my rearview’ was a deeply personal journey, exploring themes of reflection and moving forward,” said Dani LaCour. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see the album continue to find new listeners and maintain its relevance six months after its release. I poured my heart into these songs, and knowing they connect with people means everything.”

That description matches what the album actually does. Reflection can curdle into nostalgia very quickly, and country music is more prone to it than most. Still, LaCour avoids the trap by treating the rearview as a direction of travel rather than a destination. The songs look back in order to move. That is why the record has an engine under it instead of a sigh.

The result is a set of songs with rich lyrical content and arrangements that shift underneath them. For listeners who want depth from a country-rock record rather than a run of choruses, that is the appeal.

What The Critics Heard In This Lake Charles Country Rock Record

The album did not arrive unnoticed. It has already been featured by Inspotmusic, KIMU, Voxwave Magazine and korliblog.com. The readings line up in a useful way.

KIMU framed the record around its high emotional quotient, calling it self-realised and assertive. Voxwave Magazine took the harder-times angle, positioning the songs as something to sing when life hits hard. korliblog.com landed on the phrase that best sums the project up, which is looking back without regret. Three outlets, three entry points, one consistent picture.

That agreement is worth something. When early coverage converges on the same qualities, it usually means the record communicates clearly rather than leaving reviewers to guess.

If your listening runs through Brandi Carlile, this will land. Carlile built her reputation on songs that carry weight without raising their voice, and LaCour writes from a similar conviction. Miranda Lambert is the second reference point, less for the twang than for how she keeps a story moving. She never parks it in the chorus. Sheryl Crow is the third, mostly for the rock instinct sitting inside a roots record. That is the same instinct driving the guitars here.

The RockCharts.News curator team: “Catalogue records are where we find our best recommendations, because the ones still moving six months out have usually earned it. This one has. The reflective framing could have made it heavy, and it does not. That restraint is the craft.”

Stream In My Rearview And Follow Dani LaCour Across Every Platform

The listener this is built for wants a country record with rock underneath and something to say. They are not looking for a party single, and they are not looking for a ballad collection either. Put the album on from the top and let it argue its own case.

in my rearview is available across all major streaming services. You can hear the full album on Spotify. Follow her Spotify artist page or Apple Music, then find more at her official site.
